The exhibition space -1 hosts contemporary artworks belonging to the deposit granted to the City of Lugano by the collectors Giancarlo and Danna Olgiati.
Situated in the basement of the Central Park building opposite the LAC, the space was restructured by the architect Ivano Gianola, thanks to the support of Fondazione Caccia.
The Collection was created in the early 1960s when the young lawyer Giancarlo Olgiati started his adventure in the world of contemporary art. In 1985 he was joined by his wife, Danna, an Italian gallery owner specialised in the Futurist movement.
The display features nearly 100 works ranging from masterpieces of the Art Povera and Nouveau Réalisme to the most recent tendencies. A specific section presents futurist paintings alongside a vast collection of artists’ books.
