The romantic Parco Villa Florida reminds the flowey Liberty style and a way of life gone forever.
This 5350 sq.m. park is in the centre of the Loreto district surrounded by palaces, ancient villas and historic hotels. In 1977 Villa Florida was demolished and in 1985 building work started on the park. It was designed around the remaining contemporary architectural elements: the porter’s lodge, the arbour, the wrought iron parapets with their elaborate mouldings, the little walls and edgings in tufa stone, the lovely grotto, and the turret with its ‘berceau’ in decorative iron work. The geometric design of the garden is dominated by delicious curves which pave the way for constructive use of the land. There’s a logical sequence to the way the three huge terraces are set out. The whole area is in a wonderful position and offers the visitor particularly well cared for examples of plant life – box hedges, pyramid shaped yew trees, palms, oleanders, wisteria, the famous handkerchief tree as well as a number of rare plants.
