Set on Lugano's gorgeous lakeside, the Promenade begins near a small terrace overlooking the Lake, the "Rivetta Guglielmo Tell", located right at the main entrance to Parco Ciani. Walking towards Paradiso, we can admire what are considered Lugano's finest historical buildings. More or less at the midway point of the Promenade, we arrive at Belvedere garden where the flower-bedecked terrace beckons us for a short rest. Behind it is the new Lugano LAC Arts and Culture centre, next to which is the famous Santa Maria degli Angioli church, built in 1499 and home to the city's most important Renaissance treasures. The last stretch of the Promenade leads us to the "Washington" monument, where Villa Tanzina used to stand. Shortly afterwards, we reach the city's most majestic tree: a gigantic sequoia. The walk comes to an end below the leafy boughs of a double row of trees demarcating the boundary between the Lake and the built-up area and separating the peace and quiet of the Lake from the hustle and bustle of the city. A few more steps and we reach Paradiso landing stage. At this point we leave the row of lime trees behind us and proceed to the Eden Hotel where we can admire a marvellous garden of flower beds and a large round pond, marking the end of the lakeside Promenade.
