A Tour in Giornico

Giornico The village boasts an outstanding historical heritage. Among its attractions are its vineyards and a small island in the Ticino river. This island can be reached by two small Romanesque bridges.

Take public transport to make your way to Giornico (train from Lugano to Bodio and then bus to Giornico), a small town with a grand cultural heritage. Indeed, there is an abundance of interesting historical buildings in the village, including its famous seven churches. Lose yourself in the village streets where you might come across any number of old houses such as the frescoed “Casa degli Stanga”, meeting local people along the way. Giornico is the most northerly village, where vines are grown to produce premium-quality wines and where a small island rises from the River Ticino, connected by two important Roman bridges.
