Concert as part of Estival Jazz and Lugano LongLake Festival

Californian singer-songwriter Judith Hill has for several years been a backing vocalist for some of the most important American groups and artists, including Stevie Wonder, The Roots, Michael Jackson and Elton John: always on big stages, but never as a protagonist. His story, along with others, is told in the film '20 Feet from Stardom', a snapshot of the sacrifices and labours of the 'backup singers' of some of the greatest artists of our time. In 2013 came the real turning point for Judith. She decided to take part in the highly popular music talent show 'The Voice', winning over the audience with her expressive, soulful and mellow voice, and was an immediate contender for the final victory: Hill's technical and artistic superiority was obvious. After this experience she received a lot of attention from the media, the public and... Prince, who was captivated by her expressive, soulful voice. Judith then spent several months in Paisley Park working with the Imp and her trusted musicians on what was to be her first record: a pure concentrate of funk, soul and R&B, with lots of 'old school' references and a few more modern touches. In Lugano, Judith will present tracks from her latest album 'Baby I'm Hollywood', a splendid mix of soul, wonderful piano ballads and psychedelic funk: a self-produced record that sees a free, focused and reborn Hill.

Timetables will be announced soon on longlake.ch.
