5 days of events in Lugano dedicated to contemporary art

The Lugano Art Parade was created to promote contemporary culture. On the occasion of La Regionale, Mostra d'arte della Svizzera italiana, the biennial exhibition dedicated to artists working in Italian-speaking Switzerland, five days of special events will be organized with the participation of all the protagonists of the Lugano art scene. Museums, exhibition spaces, galleries and cultural centers will open their doors (free of charge) and welcome visitors with guided tours to make contemporary art accessible to all.

At 6.30 pm, the LAC will inaugurate the multimedia installation "Panther Owls Elk - Animal Stories", conceived for the foyer of the cultural center by Bob Wilson, one of the world's leading visual and theatrical artists.

La Regionale - Mostra d'arte della Svizzera italiana opens its doors at 6.00 pm. The large group exhibition, which was realized in co-production with the city of Lugano, presents the works of 20 artists from Ticino and the Italian Grisons who live in the southern Alps. The exhibition, which is free to visit, can be discovered thanks to the valuable information provided by the young art guides, who will be available to the public throughout the exhibition's opening period (from December 8 to January 28, 20th).

The city's museums and art foundations will be offering free admission and pre-booked guided tours of their exhibitions. It will therefore be possible to visit the two MASI museums, the Collezione Olgiati, the MUSEC, the Fondazione Bally Villa Heleneum and the Fondazione Braglia with the help of expert guides who will help visitors understand every detail of their magnificent exhibitions.

This will be the turn of the art galleries of Lugano from GAL - Gallerie d'Arte Lugano association - , which will be opened throughout the day and will also be discoverable through guided tours or fascinating descriptions by and from gallerists. The festival closes with the LAC offering non-subscribers 20 percent discount for the play "Uncle Vanya Cechov Project - Second Stage," Anton Cechov / Leonardo Lidi, staged Saturday, Dec. 9 and Sunday, Dec. 10 at 8:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
