The Vocal Group Cantemus is pleased to present its new concert: a journey through the centuries, highlighting the wonders of the human voice and musical instruments.
Some short a cappella pieces are on the programme:
- by William Byrd's "Haec Dies" for 6 a cappella voices and the motet "Ave verum Corpus"
- by Morten Lauridsen, a well-known contemporary American composer 'O Magnum Mysterium'
- by Ola Gjeilo, Norwegian composer and pianist, 'Ubi caritas' and
- by Josquin Des Prez, French-Flemish Renaissance composer 'Inviolata, integra et casta es'
In addition, 2 longer pieces:
- "String Quintet in C major" (also known as Cello Quintett) by Franz Schubert performed by the Camerata dei Castelli
- Francesco Durante's Renaissance masterpiece, the 'Magnificat in B flat major' for four-part choir, string quintet and organ
It ends with "O Salutaris Hostia" (2009) by Eriks Esenvalds for choir and 2 sopranos.
We wish you an enjoyable evening of complex and festive harmonies and look forward to seeing you there.
