Rune Guneriussen creates fascinating temporary installations in nature that become the subject of his ethereal photographic images.
The works are created on site, in total solitude and reflection, in the context of unusual and wild landscapes. Immersed in uncontaminated nature, lamps, books, chairs and telephones, and, in his latest cycle of works, luminous sculptures created by him, lose their connotation of artefact and become animated to the point of blending with the immutable elements of the landscape.
The natural context plays a dual role: it is both the protagonist and the frame of the installations. Gueneriussen's artistic process ends with the photographic shot of the installation, which is taken in analogue, without digital retouching in the post-production phase. The final effect is a fascinating combination of nature and objects, which become as immutable as the elements of the surrounding nature. The fairy tale is a reality, an ephemeral reality, which was created to be photographed and which transforms the landscape, but at the same time respects it.
In this way, Guneriussen forces us to question ourselves first and foremost about the nature of what we are seeing and, consequently, about the language that can describe it.
