Pedal, smile and take a photo!

26 - 29 May 2022
Piazza Manzoni, Lugano

Discover Lugano’s most fabulous panoramic views by bike; find the various “photo spots” and take a photo - together with your bike - to win a prize.

During the Lugano Bike Emotion 2022 events, Lugano Region recommends a scenic itinerary allowing you to get to know the city and win a small gift. You can choose to take part in the event by using the PubliBike service which, for the occasion, will provide you with bikes and e-bikes free of charge. If you prefer, you can also bring your own bike.

Along the itinerary, you’ll find six “photo spots” where we invite you to take a bike photo, either on your own or with friends. At the end of your tour, we’d like you to pay us a visit at the Lugano Region stand in Piazza Manzoni and show us at least four photos in order to receive your gift. Share your photos on Instagram by tagging @lugano.region @luganobikeemotions and @publibike.

Practical information

The PubliBike bikes will be placed at your disposal free of charge. All you need to do is download the free PubliBike app to your smart phone and enter the activation code given to you at the Lugano Region stand. The code will entitle you to use the service free of charge and also to change bikes if you decide to stop for a break during the tour.  Bikes cannot be booked in advance.

Piazza Manzoni: the location where bikes are collected from and returned to.

In order to use the PubliBike bicycles you need to be at least 16 years old. All those 18 or younger require parental permission. You also need to be at least 1 metre 40 cm tall.

The lakeside promenade is partially closed off to vehicles during the four-day period. You are expected to comply with traffic rules.

Lugano PubliBike Emotions

Set out from Piazza Manzoni and ride towards Paradiso; allow yourself a few minutes at the waterjet to admire the stunning views. Cycle along the lakeside promenade in the other direction and you can stop off at Lido Riva Caccia for a relaxing break.

Once you’re back on your bike, head to the Belvedere Gardens, where you’ll surely notice the impressive LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura building in stunning Piazza Bernardino Luini. At this point, we recommend you visit the Convent and the Santa Maria degli Angioli Church which houses a masterpiece by the famous artist, Bernardino Luini.

Continuing up to Debarcadero, you can stop to admire a picture perfect scene, comprising boats, pedalos and the impressive Monte San Salvatore in the background. Just a bit further, at Rivetta Tell, the statue of William Tell awaits you for a selfie.

Cycle through the nearby gate and you’ll discover the wonderful Parco Ciani and the point where the Cassarate river flows into the lake [la Foce], a superb beach offering views over the city. Continue through the park until you reach the side exit, passing by historic Villa Ciani: cross the road and you’ll arrive at the famous sculpture by Igor Mitoraj in Piazza Independenza; take the city streets all the way to Piazza Manzoni. Stop off at the Lugano Region stand, show your best shots and receive your gift.
