Parco Ciani e lungolago
Timetable
Saturday: 09:00 – 18:00
For the first time in its history, the Lumberjack Pentathlon will take place in Lugano. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the co-organisers and the availability of the City Hall, the 31st edition will take place at the Parco Ciani on 7 October from 09:00 to 18:00. The park represents an enchanting place to propose the event, which this year will be rich in activities and with an expanded gastronomic proposal.
After the success of last year's jubilee edition in Faido, the woodcutter's pentathlon returns with great enthusiasm to the lakeshore. It had been since the Magadino edition in 2013 that a stretch of water had not been lapped. The Lumberjack Pentathlon is characterised by being an itinerant event, offering different environments and situations at each edition. Mountain, plain, hill, the Pentathlon knows no borders and the committee is proud to be able to re-propose every year an event with unique characteristics closely linked to the territory and traditions.
In forestry, in the morning from 9 a.m. between axe blows and chainsaw cuts the competitors will compete in the 5 Pentathlon events, while in the afternoon from 2 p.m. onwards there will be the chainsaw sculpting competition and the pole-climbing competition. The mini-pentathlon for children from 4 to 9 years of age (registration opens in the morning at around 10 a.m.), with 350 places available, will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to this, children will have the opportunity to entertain themselves with the storyteller Christina Germann-Chiari, who will propose stories and fairy tales, climb the pole, and have fun in the beautiful playground located near the Foce del Cassarate. All of this will be accompanied by the forest fair and the handicraft market, which will be present all day with their stalls scattered around the park and the lakeside. There will also be plenty of refreshment options, with five refreshment points.
To encourage the use of public transport there will be a 20% discount on the Arcobaleno fare for those who reach Lugano by public transport. For the environment, biodegradable and reusable tableware will be used.
The organising committees are convinced that the programme is so rich that the public will be offered an unforgettable day, and the day will end with an aperitif in company. I cordially greet you, hoping to see you again in Lugano on Saturday 7 October.
