The first part of this hike is the same path of the Mountain Trail to Monte Lema, until Monte Gradiccioli, where it begins to follow a downhill and shady, but also very attractive and scenic, route in the second part.
As for many other excursions, departure is Alpe Foppa (1,532 m a.s.l) from where you are going to reach the summit of Monte Tamaro, that welcomes you with a breath-taking 360° view. There is also the possibility to take another route which shortens the required time for about half an hour.
You have to follow the traditional Mountain Trail Monte Tamaro – Monte Lema until Monte Gradiccioli. After reaching its summit, continue downhill along the east ridge and then through fabulous beech and chestnut woods. Arosio, a typical and picturesque village in Malcantone, is about 2 hours’ walk from the summit of Monte Tamaro and is the ideal place to enjoy a well-deserved break while waiting for the bus back to Rivera.
