Parco San Michele

The parc San Michele consists in a natural green area and with its typically southern vegetation offers one of the city’s most spectacular views.

Boasting 12,000 square metres of greenery, this park is perched on the slopes of Monte Brè and provides the most captivating views of all Lugano. Several architectural elements are arranged throughout the park: the chapel dedicated to St Michael, a rustic dwelling and a number of stone sculptures. Behind the chapel lies the main terrace affording one-of-a-kind views: you can admire the city, the Lake with the unmistakable silhouette of Monte San Salvatore, Melide bridge/dam and the village of Caprino. Another things which is striking about San Michele is its vegetation. Paths lead through typical Mediterranean flora with a wealth of wisteria, oleanders, oak, elm, ash and laurel. Immersed in this haven of wonder, the city below and its traffic pale into insignificance next to the unparalleled views and the evocative sensations that nature conjures up.
