Monte Tamaro, situated in the triangle between Lugano - Bellinzona - Locarno, together with the Monte Ceneri pass divides the Upper and Lower Ceneri.
This mountain is one of the most appreciated destinations in the region thanks to its ability to offer entertainment, natural beauty and sporting activities.
From Rivera, a convenient cable car takes you to Alpe Foppa, where there is a large restaurant near a small lake, the Santa Maria degli Angeli Church designed by the architect Mario Botta, the departure point for panoramic walks and mountain bike trails. Monte Tamaro offers excitement and fun for the whole family, in fact there is also a children's playground, a coaster bob, a zip line and an adventure park.
Just 15 km from Lugano, the Monte Tamaro cable car can easily be reached by car, taking the Rivera exit from the A2 or by train, getting off at Rivera-Bironico station. The cableway climbs smoothly to 1,530 m.

This loop trail is quite an experience: the ascent from Alpe Foppa to Capanna Tamaro is rough, but the fantastic views of the valley, Lake Lugano and Lago Maggiore are worth the effort.
