Typical Ticinese Evening in a Grotto

Nothing is more typical for an evening in the region of Lake Lugano than a couple of hours spent in a grotto, a simple tavern in quiet places, hidden by the shade of large trees.

A grotto usually consists of a small and simple inside facility and a spacious outdoor area with solid granite tables and benches. Guests find these unique venues very refreshing, as they drink and eat the specialities of the local cuisine: salami and mortadella, risotto and polenta, beef and rabbit stew. The traditional menus should be enjoyed with homemade cheese and a bottle of local Merlot served in a boccalino glass.
