Artphilein Library, FOCUS and Bookstore
Artphilein Library, FOCUS and Bookstore carry out activities involving photography and the photographic book.
We have two locations: in via Pelli 13 in Lugano you will find the library and our exhibition space, in via San Salvatore 2 in Paradiso you will find our library.
Artphilein was founded in 2006 as a non-profit organization dedicated to contemporary art and photography by collectors Gianfranco and Caterina De Pietri.
The main activities are the promotion of contemporary photography, a publishing house of photographic books and a library, a public library and two exhibition spaces: Focus and La Piscina. Artphilein means "Friend of Art".
Art for Artphilein is a commitment and inspiration to face the challenges of contemporary life and imagine a possible future.
The library was inaugurated in Lugano in 2019, the books are available for consultation and displayed in temporary thematic exhibitions.
The exhibition space FOCUS was born in 2021, presents a calendar of solo and collective exhibitions with emerging and established photographers. A place to welcome other institutions and realities of the world of photography. To see, understand and talk about photography.
Artphilein Bookstore is the library of photographic books, you can find artist and photographic books from all publishing houses in the world, independent and not. It is a space to discover contemporary photography and get in touch with photographers, publishers and all the professionals of the world of photography and publishing.
