It offers a unique view of the pre-Alpine landscape, of lakes and the snowy peaks of the Alps.
The “Monte Tamaro” mountain is located in the Lugano-Bellinzona-Locarno triangle. From Rivera, which is easily accessible by car and public transport, a convenient cableway whisks you up to Alpe Foppa at 1,530 metres above sea-level. With its big restaurant, and the Church of S. Maria degli Angeli (designed by architect Mario Botta), Alpe Foppa is also the starting point for walks and MTB trails with panoramic views as well as being home to a play park for kids and a Alpine- Coaster bobs, Flying Fox and a column that recharges E-Bikes.
At the intermediate station of the ski-lift you’ll find: The Adventure Park, Tamaro Jumping, a welcome point with a snack bar and free WIFI.
Alpe Foppa is the starting point for many trips, for the Tamaro-Lema hike, scenic hiking trails and three "health rambles".

Unique piece by sculptress Jaya Schürch was set up there on 15 October 2008 at Alpe Foppa.
The Temple Guardian
Luca Marcionelli's monolithic 4-metre-high statue was set up on 10 September 2006 at Alpe Foppa.
La Madonna del Tamaro
The bronze statue of the Madonna and Child by sculptor Antonio Danzi Viggiù. Erected on 15 June 1985 that watches majestically over the hollow surrounding the restaurant.
The Alpe Foppa restaurant (1,530 metres above sea level) seats 400, facilities include a snack bar, shop, free WIFI, sun terrace with loungers for hire, and a big children's play area.
Suitable for banquets, cocktails and buffets, maximum capacity 250 people, conference room with video projector available.
Traditional cuisine, especially typical Ticino dishes, such as polenta with two different kinds of cheese, home-made meat and vegetarian lasagne and tripe stew Ticino-style.
Wide choice of dishes and menus for adults and children.

Take the aerial cableway up M. Tamaro and save energy. From the summit an unpaved road and a single trail in the middle of forest, followed by an unpaved road. Arosio-Miglieglia on a single trail in the typical rolling hills of Malcantone. Don't miss the ascent to M. Lema!
