A fascinating place that hosted and inspired the renowned writer / painter Hermann Hesse (there's a museum dedicated to him in Montagnola) until you reach the nature reserve and leisure area on the lakeside of Figino-Casoro and the mouth of the Riale Scairolo. This stream can be followed to Pambio-Noranco. The route from Montagnola to Figino crosses characteristic villages in a heavily wooded area.
