Sonnenstube is a Lugano-based offspace founded in 2013 that offers regular, flexible and sometimes unexpected programming. Sonnenstube is directed by Giacomo Galletti (1993, curator and printmaker), Giada Olivotto (1990, curator and researcher), Sandro Pianetti (1987, artist and interaction designer), Gabriel Stöckli (1991, artist), and Gianmaria Zanda (1985, artist and musician).
Sonnenstube, founded in 2013, is an offspace (association and exhibition space) in Lugano dedicated to contemporary art and sometimes music, literature, translation, printmaking, discussion, cooking, etc. It occasionally presents a bookshop with fanzines, limited editions, art magazines and self-published publications. Sonnenstube’s mission is to establish a venue for the emerging art scene in central and southern Ticino.
Sonnenstube was awarded the Swiss Art Awards in September 2021.
Since 2019, the itinerant venue Nada, a 1978 Tabbert 5000 Silver Edition caravan, has been added to Sonnenstube’s project. Nada reflects the desire to produce situations with sincerity and with the intention of making specific projects dedicated to our curatorial practice, mirrored in the introduction of conviviality and spontaneity.
