Lugano gravel bike tour – Stage 5: Cadro/Lugano – Morcote

Cycling

Lakeside and Ceresio peninsula.

As far as the quaint village of Brè we tackle a forest trail where single-trail and dirt road alternate. When we reach Brè we pedal up towards the scenic Monte Brè, descend on the other side of the mountain again in the direction of Brè, where a dirt road leads us up the western slopes to Lugano. Here we cross the renowned Ciani Park and ride along the lake to Melide, an intermediate stop at the small bay or Swissminiatur. We continue to Alpe Vicania from where we mostly continue along dirt roads, first to reach the San Grato Park, where there is a varied and scenic offering, and then through the well-known village of Carona with its characteristic alleyways. We continue on to Ciona where we take a dirt road that accompanies us to the renowned Morcote. A must in the region, which was awarded the title of Switzerland's most beautiful village in 2016. Here you can return to Lugano by boat, taking advantage of a new perspective on the area, or by bus or train from Melide.
