Cantina Sociale Mendrisio

The Cantina Sociale di Mendrisio was set up in 1949 and is the only wine cooperative in the Canton. Members mainly represent the Mendrisiotto production area, but mention must also be made of other member companies on the Riviera and in the Blenio Valley: their important work contributes other fine quality grapes. The Cantina Social di Mendrisio produces and sells wines exclusively from Ticino, mainly focusing on the Merlot variety. Their great professionalism, wealth of experience and modern production and storage systems mean that the products are of the highest quality. Since 1962 it has owned and run the "Tenuta Montalbano", a 20-hectare vineyard that is considered one of the most important in the country. The wines are not only sold on the domestic market, but also internationally, especially in Germany and Italy.
