Hickory Golf Masters

Lugano

Hickory Golf Masters is a unique organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history, traditions, and culture of golf through activities, events, and initiatives focused on Hickory Golf, the discipline played with period clubs featuring hickory wood shafts.

Located in the heart of Lugano, our museum takes visitors on a fascinating journey through time, exploring the origins and evolution of the game. The collection includes historic golf clubs, documents, photographs, books, trophies, and numerous period objects that tell more than a century of international golf history.

Alongside its museum experience, the facility also offers an interactive and contemporary dimension through a state-of-the-art professional golf simulator. This space allows both enthusiasts and beginners to practice, improve their game, and enjoy an immersive golfing experience, creating a unique connection between tradition and innovation.

Hickory Golf Masters also organizes events, cultural activities, and competitions dedicated to historic golf, with the aim of promoting awareness of this discipline and introducing an ever-growing audience to its sporting and cultural heritage.

In May 2025, we launched the very first Hickory Masters tournament, hosted at the prestigious Golf Club Villa d’Este. Inspired by the great traditions of international golf, the event brought together players from several countries to compete using period equipment and attire, offering an authentic and memorable experience that celebrates the elegance and spirit of the game’s early years.

Through its combination of museum exhibitions, hands-on experiences, modern technology, and international events, Hickory Golf Masters has become a point of reference for golf enthusiasts and an original cultural attraction for anyone wishing to discover a fascinating and lesser-known aspect of sporting history.

A visit to Hickory Golf Masters offers the opportunity to step back into the atmosphere of the early twentieth century and rediscover the values, traditions, and gestures that helped make golf one of the world's most beloved sports.
