Anita Spinelli – Oltre i confini, verso l’orizzonte

Massagno

Free entry

Every year, towards the end of summer, the spaces of Casa Pasquée host the works of an artist from Ticino who left an important legacy on the cultural scene of our Canton. Following the exhibitions dedicated to Regina Conti in 2008 – which inaugurated the long series of annual exhibitions organised by the Municipality of Massagno – and subsequently to Fiorenza Bassetti (2012), Aoi Huber-Kono (and Max Huber, 2013) and Vera Haller (2019), Anita Spinelli is the fifth woman to be showcased in Massagno. This exhibition offers the opportunity to rediscover a body of work which remains contemporary and innovative, a modern perspective on realities that resurface despite the passing of years.

Anita Spinelli (1908 – 2010) was in many ways ahead of her time: she was one of the first Swiss women to be admitted to the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, an unusual path for girls of her time, who among things asserted her choice in her family by going on a hunger strike. The image of borders, thresholds, and limits, as well as the desire to transcend and overcome them, are recurrent in her work, making her art continuously relevant and captivating to a wide audience.

For this 15th edition, in addition to the vernissage and visits to the exhibition, it was decided to take an in-depth look at the figure of the artist and the historical context in which she worked, proposing a conference on 16 September at 6:00 pm in the Aula magna of the elementary schools, and a finissage as concluding cultural moment on 29 September at 5:00 pm.

The vernissage will take place on Tuesday 3 September at 6 p.m. in the Aula Magna of the schools. After the presentation of the exhibition, it will be possible to visit the exhibition at Casa Pasquée.
