The second concert in the Aulos series features the Doric Quartet, composed of young musicians: Nicolò Rizzotto on flute, Lorenzo Recher on violin, Francesco Sinibaldi on viola, and Matteo Pantaleoni on cello.
Eager to share the beauty of music and united by a very similar approach, the musicians of the Doric Quartet offer us fresh and brilliant interpretations. So let’s begin! Mozart’s Quartet for Flute and Strings, K. 285, allows us to savor a masterpiece of gallant grace and virtuosity. Next is Viotti, with his Op. 22 collection, which offers a brilliant example of chamber music from the period, combining melodic elegance with the concertante mastery of the famous Italian composer. The program concludes with Mercadante, whose writing blends the brilliant virtuosity of the flute—which often takes center stage—with the accompaniment of the strings, foreshadowing the Romantic style.
