The celebration of National Day is a heartfelt tradition for the people of Lugano. It represents a time of unity and collective reflection. From the early morning wake-up call with drummers, to the official ceremonies and the evening show, there are many moments to celebrate the birth of the nation together.

Celebration Program

  • 6:00 am: City Centre, Wake-up call with the Lugano Drummers
  • 10:15 am: Piazza della Riforma, Gathering of the Authorities in the Courtyard of the City Hall and parade
  • 10:30 am: Piazza Indipendenza, Wreath-laying at the Independence Monument
  • 8:30 pm: Via Nassa, Meeting point for Authorities and City Associations
  • 8:45 pm: City Centre, Parade of the Authorities and City Associations (Via Nassa, Piazza Battaglini, Riva Vela, Rivetta Tell, Via Canova, Piazza Manzoni, Piazza della Riforma)
  • 9:15 pm: Piazza della Riforma, August 1st Address by Raoul Ghisletta, City Councillor of Lugano
  • 10:30 pm: Gulf of Lugano, Grand Fireworks Display
