ROCK AL LAGH 3rd edition: Christine IX, Toliman and others live at the Astano pond
Rock Al Lagh, a border festival dedicated to emerging rock in all its shades, returns with its third edition in the new setting of the Astano pond, a small gem of Malcantone. This year it opens at 5:00 PM: 6 bands will alternate on stage and to enhance the event there will be bars, grills, stands, and DJ sets.
The location is easily accessible even with reduced mobility.
The Number 23 will open the stage at 6:00 PM: a band from Malcantone active since 2009. After their first pop punk works, they moved on to a more energetic ska punk.
Next up, Amoko: an Italian-Swiss power trio of recent formation that offers rock/metal sounds with psychedelic shades.
The progressive music craftsmen VIII Strada have shared the stage with legendary bands such as Osanna, Patrizio Fariselli (Area), Tony Levin, David Jackson (Van Der Graaf Generator), and Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, for whom they will open at the Legend in May for the release party of the new album “Città Totale”.
Halfway, the Örök, a band born on Lake Maggiore that combines Californian punk rock with singer-songwriter melodies. In their prolific live activity between Italy and Switzerland, they have had the opportunity to play with historic bands such as Punkreas and Peter Punk.
We continue with the Piedmontese Toliman: the band offers modern metal, which starts from heavy sounds but is open to experimentation. A new approach, based on a range of additional textures to create a personal, atmospheric, and pathos-rich sound. They have an EP and a full-length album to their credit.
Closing the evening, Christine IX: musician and singer-songwriter present on the Italian independent scene for over twenty years. With her historic band, the Shotgun Babies, she has released two LPs, collaborated with the queen of no-wave Lydia Lunch, and shared the stage with artists such as Giorgio Canali, Assalti Frontali, Aldo Tagliapietra (Le Orme), Pierpaolo Capovilla, and many others. Since 2010, she has pursued a solo path that combines visceral and dark rock with singer-songwriter music. With the album “Nessun perduto amore” she was admitted to the prestigious Premio Tenco. Today she works alongside Marco Ancona as a bassist and recently opened the concert of the legendary Marky Ramone. The third recently released album “Magic” is a hard rock and grunge call to weirdos, outcasts, and marginalized people who find in their own uniqueness a form of magical and transformative power.
The festival is sponsored by the Municipality of Lema and organized by the Association Alternative Waves. Thanks go to the main sponsors Banca Raiffeisen del Malcantone, Lugano Region, and the Malcantone Foundation, as well as to all the businesses that supported the realization of the event.
