An Open-Air Stage by the Lake Filled with Music, Culture, Traditions and Unforgettable Experiences
From 31 July to 20 September, Morcote comes alive once again with Summer in Morcote 2026, the summer festival that transforms one of Switzerland's most beautiful villages into a spectacular open-air stage. Music, cinema, cultural events, food experiences, family activities and charity initiatives will accompany residents and visitors on a journey to discover the beauty of Lake Ceresio.
The festival opens with an exciting new feature: a two-day celebration of the Swiss National Day. On Friday, 31 July, Piazza Granda will host Jazz in Piazza, featuring the Nicolò Ricci Organ Trio, street food and a DJ set. On Saturday, 1 August, the traditional Swiss National Day celebrations will include a musical aperitif, local food specialties, the official address, the Swiss National Anthem, a live performance by the Sunny Boys and a dance party with DJ Poma.
On Sunday, 9 August, Morcote will welcome a special stop of Ceresio Estate, celebrating its 50th anniversary with the performance "Oltre il confine, tra Classico e Pop" by the vocal group Rebel Bit, set against the breathtaking panoramic backdrop of Spazio Garavello 7.
On Saturday, 22 August, the fourth edition of the Memorial Ciacio Poma will bring together sport and community spirit with a five-a-side football tournament, barbecue, refreshments and live music.
From 27 to 29 August, one of the summer's most anticipated events returns: the Open Air Cinema. The programme features three special evenings: the live-scored silent film "...senza parole!" with Pel di carota; the Ticino dialect version of the classic Some Like It Hot, titled Düü Testimoni Scomod; and a tribute to Sergio Maspoli with the beloved comedy Quattro bücer e 'na gazösa, a true classic of Ticino's popular culture.
September will bring even more opportunities to experience the local community and culture. On Saturday, 5 September, visitors can enjoy the traditional Festa di Fine Estate, featuring an open-air Mass, live music, barbecue and activities for children. On Saturday, 12 September, Un Mondo Creativo will offer a charity event with a craft market, international cuisine, live music and entertainment for the whole family. On the same day, the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate will host the concert Le Labyrinthe d'Arianne as part of the Incontri Musicali concert series.
On Sunday, 20 September, the beautiful Parco Scherrer will host Scritture al Parco, where acclaimed Italian author Andrea Vitali will present his latest novel in conversation with Andrea Fazioli.
Throughout the summer, visitors can also enjoy free guided tours of Parco Scherrer in both Italian and German. In addition, the new permanent Tesori del Ticino experiences invite visitors to discover Morcote through two engaging treasure hunts: Il Percorso Incompiuto, set within Parco Scherrer, and Messaggeri di Morcote, an exciting escape-city adventure through the historic village streets.
Adding a charitable dimension to the festival is the collaboration with Move for Charity. During events at Spazio Garavello 7, the panoramic Rooftop Bar will be run by the association's volunteers, with all proceeds from food and beverage sales supporting its charitable projects.
With its unique blend of music, cinema, literature, traditions, nature and breathtaking scenery, Summer in Morcote 2026 invites visitors to experience the village from every perspective. A rich programme designed for all ages confirms Morcote as one of the most captivating summer destinations on Lake Ceresio.
