MUSEC – Museo delle Culture

Lugano

Villa Malpensata is one of Lugano's most famous historical buildings. Built in the 18th century, it housed important local families including the Foppa and Caccia. At the beginning of the 20th century, it became the property of the City of Lugano and it was used as a museum. Between 1970 and 2014, it hosted the major exhibitions of the Lugano Art Museum. After a series of renovation and modernisation works, Villa Malpensata is now the permanent seat of the Museo delle Culture (MUSEC).
Situated on the lakeside, the villa enjoys a splendid view over the bay of Lugano. It is easily accessible from the railway station and the city centre; two large covered public car parks are located nearby.
Villa Malpensata offers the possibility to rent spaces, indoors and outdoors, of various sizes, for conferences, seminars, meetings, workshops, weddings and other types of private events.
Guided tours of the museum exhibitions can be added to the event.
