Museo Villa dei Cedri
, located in the district of Bellinzona-Ravecchia, is housed in a 19th century manor house, surrounded by a park of centuries-old trees overlooking the square of the ancient church of Saint Biagio. Temporary exhibitions and events for families, young people and adults are regularly organized in the rooms of the villa as well as in its park.

  • PIERRETTE BLOCH. IL GESTO DI SCRIVERE (THE ACT OF WRITING) - 12.09.2026-31.01.2027
  • The Swiss artist Pierrette Bloch (Paris, 1928-2017) was one of the leading exponents of abstract art in the post-Second World War years. In the course of her long career, she developed an original and self-contained language, embodying simple materials and shapes, expressing rhythm and the tension between full and empty spaces. Her intensely personal style began to emerge in the nineteen-seventies: irregular dots and lines, ink and brush, the space of a sheet of paper and the time of a symbol join forces to become the essence of a primordial form of expression. Bloch went on to experiment with a wide range of formats, media and materials – India ink accompanied by crayon, wax pastel and white ink while threads of hemp or sisal and horsehair impart a third dimension.
  • The exhibition invites the public to take a deep dive into Pierrette Bloch’s creative and poetic work between the 1970s and the artist’s death, between repetition and invention, but always embodying the act of writing.
  • Exhibition conceived in collaboration with the MAMC+ – Musée d’art moderne et contemporain de Saint-Etienne Métropole (F).

  • How to reach the Museum
    Walking: From Bellinzona FFS follow down Viale Stazione then via Lugano. Distance: 20 min. (1,6 km). Public transports: From Bellinzona FFS, bus line nr. 3, direction S. Antonino (Centri Commerciali), stop Isolabella. Then 4 minutes walk. By car: From South: Highway A9, direction Como - San Gottardo. Exit: 47 – Bellinzona SUD (Camorino) 4 km. From North: Highway A2, direction San Gottardo-Chiasso-Italia. Exit: 45 – Bellinzona NORD (Arbedo) 6.3 km. Parking: There is a public pay car park on Piazza San Biagio, in front of the entrance to the Museum’s garden. However, the number of parking spaces is limited. The nearest public covered car park is the Via della Cervia near Piazza Indipendenza in the city centre. Parking spaces are available in the blue zone (compulsory parking disc) in the district, for free parking for a maximum of one hour from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and from 1.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

    The museum is accessible to wheelchair users and people with walking difficulties via a stairlift (staff staircase) with assistance from staff. Some wheelchair models are not suitable due to their size. In this case, visitors are asked to transfer to the wheelchair provided by the museum.
