Valid every day the Monte Generoso Railway is open and during the kitchen's opening hours: 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM. No reservation is required.

Ticket loading

  • In case of severe weather conditions, no trains will operate. Check the website in advance to verify the opening of the railway and the self-service Generoso.

  • Can I get a refund, change the date, or transfer my ticket?
    No, tickets are non-refundable and date changes are not possible. However, tickets can be transferred to third parties: simply pass them on to another person without any additional procedure.
  • Where is the car park located?
    The official Monte Generoso railway car park is located at Via Segoma 6, 6825 Capolago. As you approach the barrier, it opens automatically and at the cash machine on site or at the ticket office you can purchase a token for the exit: CHF 8 per day.
  • Are the Fiore di pietra structure and the cogwheel train accessible?
    Accessibility: No obstacles! Fiore di pietra: The elevator and all indoor spaces are fully wheelchair accessible. Train: Each standard train can accommodate only one person in a wheelchair, which must be manual and no wider than 60 cm. Only the stations of Capolago and Monte Generoso Vetta are accessible; intermediate stations (San Nicolao and Bellavista) might not be. Special transport must be requested at least 2 working days in advance to ensure assistance. Boarding and alighting are supported by railway staff.
  • Do I have to reserve a seat on the train?
    Reservations are compulsory for groups of 10 or more. For individuals, we recommend arriving about 20 minutes before the train departs.
  • How long is the journey from Capolago to Vetta?
    The journey time for the three sections is 40 minutes.
  • Can I reserve a table at the Generoso Self-Service Restaurant?
    No, it is not possible to reserve a table at the Self-Service restaurant.
  • Can I bring my dog? If yes, how much does it cost?
    Pets are welcome both on board our trains and in our facilities (Camping, Buffet Bellavista and Fiore di pietra). Small dogs travel free on the train in the arms of their owners. For medium/large dogs there is a flat-rate ticket of CHF 9 per day. Dogs with a GA pass from SBB travel free of charge.
  • How should I dress?
    On the train and inside the Fiore di pietra there is no dress code. Bearing in mind that the summit is at an altitude of 1,704 metres, we recommend dressing appropriately for the versatility of the mountain and consulting the weather forecast before setting off.
