Villa Pontiggia Cultural Centre

Villa Pontiggia Cultural Centre was founded in 2025 as a Cultural Association promoting artistic values rooted in historical and cultural significance.

The rooms of the historical residence that houses the Cultural Centre preserve furnishings, personal effects and collections that bear witness to the aesthetic sensibilities of those who once lived there, who were undoubtedly great art lovers. The Villa and its 9,000-square-metre grounds, whilst preserving the atmosphere and memory of a lived-in home, are presented to the public as a house-museum – a place that houses exquisite objects, bearing witness to ancient cultures and meticulous practices.

The spaces also house a collection of contemporary artworks which, since 2018, has been integrated into the setting whilst respecting its balance and harmony, in dialogue with the spaces and the surrounding natural environment. The lush botanical park, spread over four levels, frames Villa Pontiggia and is striking for its lush vegetation, where subtropical flora and centuries-old trees grow side by side. Set within this magnificent natural setting is the wooden pavilion designed by the architect Mario Botta, the driving force behind the permanent collection comprising thirty-one works by the artist Giuliano Vangi. Thanks to its owners and collectors, Villa Pontiggia’s exhibitions trace the history of an artistic collaboration that blossomed into a deep friendship.

Through sculptures, drawings, paintings and graphic prints – most of which date from the last two decades of Vangi’s career – the Villa becomes a repository of images that express a critical intellectual consciousness rooted in the art world, whilst seeking a close connection with the local area.

This historic residence has become a place of artistic gathering, carefully enhancing art; the Villa Pontiggia Cultural Centre therefore aims to promote the artists featured in its collection and to organise artistic and cultural initiatives, such as events and exhibitions.

Villa Pontiggia and its grounds can be visited on guided tours, by booking in advance, on Thursdays and the first Saturday of the month from September to June. The Villa’s rooms can also host seminars, workshops and events.
