Moscacieca – Dining in the dark

Lugano

The initiative is organised by Unitas, the Association of Blind and Visually Impaired People of Italian-speaking Switzerland, with the aim of raising awareness about blindness through an engaging and memorable experience.

The dinners take place in the Moscacieca Dining Room at Casa Andreina Day Centre in Lugano, a venue specifically designed to provide total darkness. Each evening welcomes a maximum of around 30 guests.

The chef prepares a single set menu, kept secret until the end of the dinner to make the experience even more surprising. When booking, guests are welcome to inform us of any allergies, food intolerances or dietary preferences.

The price per person includes an aperitif, starter, main course, dessert, coffee, still water and sparkling water. Wine is not included and may be selected from the wine list.

The evening begins at 7:00 pm with a welcome aperitif. At 7:30 pm, following a short introduction, guests are escorted in small groups into the Moscacieca Dining Room, where the experience begins. To ensure full immersion, guests are encouraged to remain in the dining room until the end of the service. Anyone who prefers not to continue the experience in complete darkness may finish their meal in the centre's café.

Casa Andreina offers covered parking facilities. Advance online booking is required through the Moscacieca website.

Dinners in the Dark are also available on request for groups, associations and companies wishing to organise a private event or a team-building activity.

Opening hours:

  • Thursdays and Fridays from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm (by reservation only at www.moscacieca.ch)
