Monte San Giorgio: a jump into the era of fossils

Lugano – Brusino – Monte San Giorgio – Tremona

From Lugano take the boat to Brusino and then the cable car to Serpiano, a viewpoint on the slopes of Monte San Giorgio – declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to the fossils found there. Continue your walk along the footpath to Tremona and the Archaelogical Park. In this area you’ll come across there are several grotti in the area where you can savour local delights.

The ideal program:

Morning

  • Take a boat ride to Brusino
  • Take the Brusino – Serpiano cableway
  • In Meride visit the Museo dei Fossili with audio guide
  • Hike from Serpiano to Tremona (1h 30)
  • Lunch in a typical Grotto or Restaurant

Afternoon

  • Rental of Augmented Reality glasses at the Infopoint, Tremona
  • Visit to the Archaeological Park
  • Return by bus and train
