Signage, Dead-end

Seemingly humdrum, their main purpose is to direct traffic but, here, the installations are decontextualised, losing their original significance and acquiring a new one. The signs are arranged so as to generate shapes suggested by a sign’s geometry and by the surrounding urban environment. Their aesthetic qualities are emphasised to the detriment of their original symbolic meaning, catching passers-by unawares as they go about their daily lives and encouraging them to view the urban space in a totally new, unexpected fashion.

For this installation 30 dead-end signs, each with a diameter of 70 by 70 cm, have been used.
