The Ideatorio of the Università della Svizzera italiana is a place where you can explore science through fun and hands-on experiences. It offers activities suitable for adults and children to reflect, play, and discover.
The Ideatorio-USI is a space for reflection, wonder, and experimentation. The Cadro venue is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday afternoons (2–6 p.m.) and offers:
- Interactive exhibition on robotics and AI
- Astronomical planetarium with several live-narrated shows that allow visitors to travel through the cosmos and uncover the secrets of our universe
- Atelier: a creative space for experimenting, building, and sharing experiences, encouraging ingenuity and imagination. The activities in this space are updated regularly.
- Shows and readings
Each area is designed to stimulate creativity, reflection, and collaboration among visitors, not only through fixed installations but also through activities, games, books, and a café and meeting space available to the public.
The Ideatorio also offers cultural evenings, courses for adults, workshops, science camps, and school projects, all guided by one great driving force: curiosity.
The Ideatorio is the service of the Università della Svizzera italiana dedicated to promoting scientific culture and the dialogue between science and society. It is the regional antenna of the Science et Cité Foundation, a competence center of the Swiss Academy of Sciences, and collaborates on certain projects with the School Institute of the City of Lugano.

Accessibility Services
This cultural/tourist point of interest took part in the digital data mapping project on accessibility by Pro Infirmis. The project was carried out with the collaboration and support of Ticino Turismo, the four regional tourist organisations and the Department of Education, Culture and Sport.
