Lugano gravel bike tour – Stage 2: Miglieglia – Rivera

From Malcantone to Lake Lugano up the Vedeggio river.

The route proceeds on hard ground (except the Tortoglio-Cassinelle section) from Miglieglia to the Maglio del Malcantone, which is used as a museum and is located in an idyllic area with several waterfalls. The route continues along the Magliasina river on a dirt road and up the Caroggio plain through fields. From Arosio you enter the forest passing by Alpe Agra, alternating between asphalt and dirt road. After leaving Cademario, proceed through the forest between single trails mostly on asphalt. You reach Caslano, passing through its characteristic centre and lakeside. The route continues to Agno, partly along the lakeside, where you can see some picturesque estuaries and the Agno park. From here the route climbs up to Rivera along the Vedeggio river, on shady dirt tracks. From Rivera you can reach Monte Tamaro, with its attractions, a mountain that can also be climbed by mountain bike along a partially unpaved road.
