Themed route that winds through the five villages of Alto Malcantone, passing through chestnut groves, birch woods, streams, and meadows. Besides admiring the different villages, the view reaches as far as Monte Rosa.
It is a themed route of about 15 km that crosses Alto Malcantone. Besides highlighting the groves, cultivation, and the chestnut tree, the route features 7 educational points marked on the ground and offers extensive information on the processing and use of wood, respectively from chestnuts and their derivatives.
Immersed in a natural amphitheater shaped by the Gradiccioli chain, the gaze extends southward into a typical Alto Malcantone landscape mosaic where the villages of Mugena, Vezio, and Fescoggia blend harmoniously among woods and open areas. For educational purposes, between Mugena and Vezio you find a metato (grà).
It is the stone building where chestnuts are dried by exposing them on racks to moderate heat and smoke. Drying allows the fruits to be preserved for several months.
