A route that allows you to reach the southern side of this intriguing and varied peninsula, at the foot of Mount San Salvatore, but on the opposite side of the city.
San Salvatore – Carona
You initially descend from the summit along a path that winds pleasantly through the woods. At the intermediate stage at Ciona there is a grotto and a PostBus stop, which connects Lugano and Carona. From here a gravel road through the woods leads to the characteristic Carona, whose centre still retains its charm.
Carona – Parco San Grato – Carona
Just a 15-minute walk from Carona there is the possibility to visit the scenic Parco San Grato with its many attractions, altogether an extra hour's hike well worth doing.
