Panoramic high-altitude route where you encounter pastures, a mountain hut, a refuge, a farm stay, and an alpine pasture.
This is one of the classic mountain bike routes in the Lugano area located on the slopes of Monte Bar, where the homonymous alpine hut stands, with "Bike Friendly" services. The refuge boasts a magnificent 180-degree view stretching from Gazzirola, to the Denti della Vecchia, to the Lugano basin, to the Malcantone mountains, and up to Monte Tamaro. To the west, the view meets the imposing 4,000 m peaks of the Valais Alps and from the Mischabel group up to Monte Rosa.

There are several accommodation options on site, in the order of travel: the Agriturismo Alpe Rompiago, the Capanna Monte Bar, and the Rifugio Tassera.
Those with a private vehicle can save the first 3.5 km of ascent and reach the Borisio barrier where there is a lay-by with about ten parking spots. (Note: from Somazzo onward, the road starts to become slightly rough)
